Photography Day Nineteen... Strawberry Fields Forever.

I was lucky enough to drive by a strawberry stand on my way home from Gilroy and pick up these amazing fresh-picked strawberries. That is why I decided to use them for todays picture of something Red. They are so freaking delicious it's insane. I love strawberries and I wish they were in season year round, but sadly they aren't. Today I was able to enjoy fresh strawberry poundcake (yes POUNDcake, not shortcake) and tomorrow I plan on making the incredible sourcream and brown sugar dipping sauce. Oh man, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Photography Day Eighteen... Up Above.

The Sky is today's picture objective. I took a few photos of the sky on my way home from Gilroy. It was the perfect day for clear beautiful blue sky pictures.

Photography Day Seventeen... Time passes on.

Today's photo. A clock. I chose a picture of a clock that's not actually a clock. It's a picture of what I hope to be my next sewing project. Plus it's totally bitchin'.

Photography Day Sixteen... ABC's.

Today is brought to by the letter L. Okay, for real, today's challenge is supposed to be of letters (not mail). I though long and hard about this because I guess I just don't have the artistic photographic gene in my DNA and I'm apparently not that great at coming up with awe-inspiring things. But hey, I'm doing my best and having fun with it. So for today I chose pictures of some of my tattoos. They have letters that symbolize relatives who have either passed or as a general I-love-you-so-I-permanently-embedded-my-body-with-a-foreign-substance.
First off, I'm not racist. This has nothing to do with the lighting bolts that the German officers had. These two S's represent both of my parents last names and some other family members. Still, Selvage, and Serritslev.

My very first tattoo. I got it in honor of my Uncle Larry (RIP). It still isn't yet finished but it serves it's purpose for now.

Photography Day Fifteen... Water.

Surprise, surprise, it's another picture of the beach. But when I'm told to take a picture of water how can I help myself. I frickin' love the beach! And it's another picture of Capitola water. Beautiful.

Photography Day Fourteen... View from above.

If ever I have to look down upon something I want it to be the ocean. It's beautiful for so many reasons, but the most beautiful in my opinion is the immensity of it. It goes on and on forever. While that can be an incredibly scary thing, it's also amazing and thought provoking. At least to me. The ocean is a place where I can always go to clear my head and forget all the bull shit that I've left behind in the valley.

Photography Day Eleven Revisited... The Door to Hell.

I know that I already did a picture for today, but while I was at the hospital today sitting in the waiting room I decided to pass the time by reading a magazine. In this magazine there was a picture of a gas crater. To be more specific it's the Darvaza gas crater. This thing is amazing! I think it's so amazing that I had to do another picture for day 11. It is commonly known as the "Door to Hell" and it's location is not easy to get to. If you haven't read about this crater you should because it's a pretty interesting story. It's hard to believe that the fire has been lit for over twenty years.

Photography Day Thirteen... Home is where the heart is.

A picture of my favorite building. That would be my house. My home. The place where I grew up and intend to raise my children. It may not look like much from the outisde, but you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover.

Photography Day Twelve... Sushi

So based on the title of this post y'all are probably expecting to see a picture of sushi. Well, you'd be wrong. Todays picture is supposed to be of an animal. I chose my cat, Sushi. She is the cutest cat in the world and she thinks she's a guard dog. She used to be cream colored but has darkened over the years as well as put on a few pounds which simply adds to her fluffiness.

The gray cat is Paul. He also thinks he's a dog but more so a pit bull because if given the opportunity he will try and eat your arm.

Photography Day Eleven... Geological Feature...

There it is. An interesting geological feautre. A HUGE geiser. Absolutely amazing and incredibly beautiful.

Photography Day Ten... Full of Nifty Goodness...

This may seem incredibly silly but the item I chose for today's picture (something sentimental) are mine and Nancy's notebooks from high school. I have had my ups and downs in life, but Nancy has always been right there when I needed her. She has been the best friend I have ever had and I thank her from the bottom of my heart. We started these notebooks freshman year and continued through college. (There is a break in the notebooks from when we weren't friends, which was totally my fault. Another reason Nancy is such a great friend for accepting my apology and being friends with me again. Not that many people are understanding) We named each one of our notebooks (full of nifty goodness, for the love of notebook, the essence of notebook, and the notebook of DOOM -The College Years-) . They are full of random notes, sayings, guy lists, silly pictures, and random moments that make us wonder what we were on back in those days. These notebooks are something that I will always cherish and hold dear to my heart because if I am ever having a bad day I can whip those notebooks out, flip through the pages, and immediately feel a smile spread across my face. Those notebooks are going into my final will and testament.

They are awesome.

And definitely full of...

...nifty goodness.

Photography Day Nine... Relaxation...

The best place to relax is the beach. This is the one California girl stereotype that I completely follow and will follow til the day I die. I love the beach. I prefer private beaches because I'm not into shit loads of people being around me and I like being able to read a book while listening to the surf without interruption.

Photography Day Eight... Something tall...

I didn't want to take a generic picture of a tree for this day. But, alas, I had to. I couldn't find anything tall that really meant anything to me so a picture of a damn tree it is. My mom had the "wonderful" idea to have redwoods planted in our backyard. She absolutely loves redwoods. I think they're a fine tree and all, but I didn't want them in my backyard. But that's just me I guess. So here are a couple of pictures of our redwoods that are in our backyard.

Photography Day Seven... Green

Today is the best day yet out of the photography challenge days because it's supposed to be a picture of something green. And in my opinion I have the BEST green picture, EVER!

This is a picture I came across a while back, so yes, it is stolen once again, but I couldn't help myself. Look at it. Ain't nothin' better than Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. So what if i'm 24. I love the 80's/90's and I'm damn proud to say it. Everyone should still play with their inner child once in a while. It would make the world a better place.

Time for me to get back to class. (Yes I am blogging in the middle of class.) Have to take my math test now. But please enjoy the awesomness and scrumptiousness of this picture. I know I do.

Turtle Power!

Photography Day Six... Colleagues...

Considering I work alone with no colleagues this day proved to be a little difficult. With that said, I chose to use a picture from a while back of me and one of my former colleagues a.k.a. my cousin, Ashley. We worked at Bakers Square together back in '07. It's scary to think about how long ago that was. But anyways...

How times have changed...

Photography Day Five... What lurks in the shadows...

First off I would like to say that I totally stole this picture. (via) I would have taken my own picture because taking a picture of a shadow really isn't that hard to come by, but when I saw this picture I couldn't help but use it for this days challenge. I hope y'all enjoy this picture as much as I do...

Puzzle Time...

They say the first three words you find are supposed to describe you.

My first three words were lust, secrets, and malice.

Interesting...

(giving credit where credit is due I found this via )

Photography Day Four... Time to get your drink on...

My favorite drink. This is the easiset thing I've ever had to decide. I drink Diet Pepsi every day. All day. I know it's horrible for you, but what can I say, I love my D.P. But Pina Coladas would be my ultimate drink of choice in terms of fancy drinks. Thank you Diet Pepsi and Pina Coladas for quenching my thirst.

Photography Day Three... You have my heart...

So many times I have used my mom for the person whom I love, most admire, love hanging out with, closest friend, so on and so forth. Well, for this day, I'm going to use my mom again. I think that mother's, especially mine, are the most important people you can ever have in your life. They raise you, teach you, love you, care for you, and are always there for you no matter what. I love my mom more than anything in this entire world and devote todays photography challenge to her. Love the hell out of you Mommy.

Photography Day Two... Room with a view...

Today is supposed to be a picture of the view from my bedroom window. Since I don't want anyone knowing where I live for personal reasons, I am using a picture from my old bedroom window. Plus I love the picture since it's all rainy and I love my car and miss it dearly.

Seeing Red...

So I have been posting something every day for the past couple of days, as well as posting my month of April thingy, and everything was fine and dandy. Yesterday I attempt to get onto blogger and they say they are experiencing problems and doing maintenance, blah blah blah. Well I finally get on here (obviously) and come to find out, that somehow two of my posts have been deleted. No idea where they went or why/how they disappeared. But *poof* they be gone. And now I'm pissed. I know something this small shouldn't make me pissed, but hey, what can I say, that's just who I am. So, I will be redoing and reposting both of those when I get a chance, but if they suddenly reappear and you see two of the same thing, I apologize for the repetition. Now I must go and have a calming "woosa" moment.

hummmmmmmmmmmmmmm, hummmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Photography Day One... (Me)

Okay. So I know I started the Movie challenge and didn't follow through on it, but I decided that it just isn't the right time to go through with that challenge. So I have decided to switch gears. I'm going to do the photography challenge. This challenge takes more thought than simply finding pictures on the internet. This challenge will not only give me something to do when I'm bored, but it may bring inspiration and beauty into my every day life. So here's to day one... A picture of me...

Smile...

So I'm still here. It seems as though I've dropped off the face of the earth, and honestly that's what it's felt like recently. I've been meaning to blog more but I guess that backfired on me completely and I haven't blogged at all. I know I said I was going to remedy this, but I haven't had to the want or drive to do so lately. Today I woke up with a smile. Turned out to be one of the best days I've had in years. And it wasn't as if anything special happened. I didn't win big money, get a great start to my career, graduate college, or figure out the meaning of life. Today I spent time with old friends. A friend from high school, a friend from my crazy years, and a friend from my childhood. It feels good to get out sometimes and be with those who you haven't seen in a long time that make you smile, laugh, and ask yourself why the hell you've been living in a cave for so long. Today was amazing because I got to laugh, relive great memories, feel love and friendship and compassion and most importantly feel good about myself and my life. I don't know if I'll start blogging on a more constant basis, and I don't want to make that promise, but I wanted to blog about this day because I want to be able to look back on a day that isn't going so great and read this and remember that there are good days out there to be had. All it takes is a smile.

If you can't laugh...

...the days are just too long
